Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D – NY) publicly supported<\/a> President Joe Biden before his State of the Union address on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Schumer applauded<\/a> Biden’s handling of the China spy balloon situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The surveillance balloon<\/a> had been flying above key military installations and nuclear silos for over a week<\/a> before it was finally brought down over the Atlantic Ocean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It had first entered<\/a> U.S. airspace over Alaska on the previous Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite being aware of the balloon, the Biden Administration chose to refrain from taking action<\/a>, and the President instructed officials<\/a> to wait until Wednesday before shooting it down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the balloon was eventually brought down on Saturday<\/a> over the Atlantic near the Carolina coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the delay<\/a> in bringing down the balloon, Sen. Schumer insists<\/a> that Biden did the right thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Monday, Biden was asked<\/a> if the recent discovery of the spy balloon would impact his State of the Union speech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The president replied<\/a>, “No.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Laughing, he went on the reiterate that he was not surprised<\/a> that the balloon flew over the U.S.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
